Tendinopathies
Tendinopathy refers to a condition involving the degeneration or inflammation of a tendon, often due to overuse, injury, or repetitive strain. Common types include:
- Achilles Tendinopathy: Affects the Achilles tendon, often seen in runners and athletes.
- Patellar Tendinopathy: Also known as “jumper’s knee,” it affects the tendon connecting the kneecap to the shinbone.
- Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis): Involves the tendons on the outside of the elbow, often due to repetitive arm motions.
- Golfer’s Elbow (Medial Epicondylitis): Affects the tendons on the inside of the elbow, often from repetitive wrist flexion or gripping.
Symptoms:
- Pain and tenderness around the affected tendon
- Stiffness, especially in the morning or after periods of inactivity
- Swelling or thickening of the tendon
